Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced PowerBI/Cognos Developer to join our team in supporting projects for the Department of Defense (DoD). As a crucial member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining PowerBI and Cognos solutions to meet the specific needs of our DoD clients. Your role will involve collaborating closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, designing effective data visualizations and reports, and ensuring the seamless integration of these solutions into existing systems.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with stakeholders within the Department of Defense to gather and analyze requirements for data visualization and reporting needs.
2. Design, develop, and implement PowerBI and Cognos solutions to meet identified requirements, ensuring adherence to DoD standards and best practices.
3. Create visually compelling and interactive dashboards, reports, and analytical tools to present complex data in a clear and understandable manner.
4. Perform data modeling, data cleansing, and data transformation tasks to prepare datasets for analysis and reporting.
5. Conduct performance tuning and optimization of PowerBI and Cognos reports and dashboards to ensure efficient operation and responsiveness.
6. Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior developers and end-users on the use of PowerBI and Cognos tools.
7. Collaborate with other team members to integrate PowerBI and Cognos solutions with existing applications and data sources.
8. Stay informed about the latest developments and advancements in PowerBI, Cognos, and related technologies, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our offerings.
9. Adhere to DoD security policies and procedures in the development and deployment of PowerBI and Cognos solutions, ensuring compliance with security requirements and data protection standards.
10. Participate in testing, debugging, and troubleshooting activities to identify and resolve issues in developed solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience working as a PowerBI or Cognos Developer, preferably in a DoD or government contracting environment.
• In-depth knowledge of PowerBI and/or Cognos development tools, including Power Query, DAX, PowerBI Service, Report Studio, Query Studio, Framework Manager, etc.
• Strong understanding of data visualization principles and best practices.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2).
• Familiarity with DoD security requirements and standards (e.g., RMF, DISA STIGs).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex data structures and business processes.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, IBM Certified Developer - Cognos Analytics) would be a plus.
