Job Title: Senior Data Governance Specialist
Location: Remote (with limited travel to Lakewood, CO)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, GIS, Business, or related field (required)
Certification: PMP or data governance certifications (e.g., DGSP, CDMP) desirable
Experience: 5+ years in data systems, data governance, project management, or related disciplines
We are seeking a Senior Data Governance Specialist to join a cross-functional team supporting enterprise data initiatives, including data architecture, quality, integration, project delivery, and analytics. This role will serve as a key member of the Data Governance Team, helping to coordinate data standards, ensure alignment with federal data strategy principles, and lead projects involving geospatial and alphanumeric data, data warehousing, and reporting platforms.
This is a hybrid role that blends project management, data engineering, and BI solution delivery, with an emphasis on governance oversight, stakeholder coordination, and technical quality assurance. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in data systems, strong communication skills, and the ability to oversee both technical execution and governance compliance.
Develop and maintain governance-related documentation (e.g., Data Management Plan, QASP, QCP, CMP)
Track status, risks, and LOE across data and analytics workstreams
Support and lead Transition-In / Exit planning for data platforms
Interface with COR, data stewards, engineers, and business units
Apply Agile project management to governance-aligned delivery
Design and optimize data schemas, pipelines, and models for both geospatial and tabular data
Migrate legacy data systems and enforce metadata standards
Build and automate ETL/ELT processes using tools like Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and Python/PowerShell
Implement automated data validation and QC frameworks
Design and support data lakes/warehouses for integrated reporting
Develop dashboards, reports, and spatial visualizations using Power BI and ArcGIS
Recommend modern BI architectures that support transparency and insight generation
Advise on AI/ML data enrichment opportunities within governed environments
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
5+ years of experience in a combination of:
Project Management of data/IT systems
Data engineering and ETL/ELT development
Business Intelligence and dashboard/reporting design
Strong SQL and scripting experience (T-SQL or PL/pgSQL, Python or PowerShell)
Familiarity with geospatial data integration and ArcGIS
Experience developing and managing governance artifacts like CMP, QASP, QCP
PMP or relevant data governance certification (e.g., CDMP, DGSP)
Experience with:
Azure Data Services
ArcGIS Data Interoperability tools
Power BI & enterprise BI environments
Background in federal contracting or support for data-intensive federal missions
Understanding of enterprise data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, FAIR principles)
